Equine Sports massage is specifically targeted to help support the physical demands of the horse across all disciplines. Horses are not anatomically designed to carry the weight of a rider on their backs.
As practitioners, riders, trainers, farriers & vets, we must work together to help support them in retaining their natural biomechanics and cadence.

Do you have previous injuries you havenβt had checked, or rehabilitated properly, as you would with your horse?
Do you find you are stronger, or more dominant, on one side of your body, or feel a βcrookednessβ when you ride, which in turn affects your horseβs way of going?
Do you feel tightness and tension in certain areas, that restricts and limits your posture and abilities in the saddle?
-
Following an equine sports massage treatment, Charlie may prescribe a personalised stretching and mobility plan for the individual needs of each horse.
The way that these exercises are carried out can hugely influence how effective they are at releasing the body, improving suppleness and mobility, whilst building strength, engagement, encouraging correct alignment and biomechanics.
There is the option to add a one to one session to your treatment package, either the same day as the treatment or as a stand alone session, however Charlie must have had an initial consultation and treatment with the horse prior.
Having an extra pair of eyes on the ground whilst you work with your horse can be really helpful to get you started. Charlie is there to offer tips and guidance throughout each exercise and ensure that your sessions have purpose and with maximum benefit to your horse. These sessions can help build confidence and enjoyment from in hand work with those that can often feel a little lost in this area. -
Charlie has been fully accredited as a Sharon Wheeler Scar Work therapist since 2021.
Sharon Wheeler Scar work is the application of specialised techniques to help relieve discomfort, pain and restriction associated with the formation of scar tissue in the body.
