Equine Sports Massage

Equine Sports massage is specifically targeted to help support the physical demands of the horse across all disciplines. Horses are not anatomically designed to carry the weight of a rider on their backs. As practitioners, riders, trainers, farriers & vets, we must work together to help support them in retaining their natural biomechanics and cadence.

By using techniques to assess the horse and determine areas of discomfort, restriction and dysfunction, this allows us to address the horses musculoskeletal health in the best possible manner. Massage carries many benefits for our equine athletes, from top eventers to happy hackers.

Some benefits include....

  • Increasing the blood circulation and lymphatic drainage helping to eliminate toxins.

  • Speed up and assist with muscle recovery.

  • Reduce the risk of injury.

  • Address asymmetry in the body helping to improve on straightness and balance on both reins.

  • Reduce tension, muscle spasms and stiffness.

  • Enhance soft tissue quality - a tight muscle can not develop tone effectively.

  • Improve on flexibility and suppleness.

  • Increase the range of movement in the body.

  • Improve on fitness and performance.

  • Improve gait quality and stride length.

  • Reduce pain and discomfort in the body.

  • Improves posture and the ability to achieve engagement in the body.

  • Improves proprioception and co-ordination.

  • Promotes relaxation.

  • Releases endorphins - the bodies natural pain killer!

“Charlie has been treating me and my cob Millie for a couple of years now, and I have always been amazed at the difference it makes not just in Millie’s way of going but in the way I feel and sit in the saddle. I have issues with straightness through my back and shoulders which means I’m not completely straight when I ride, to the untrained eye it is not noticeable, but Charlie spotted it and through her massage therapy she was able to help reduce this. Charlie is super friendly and very knowledgable, which always makes for very interesting and enlightening sessions. I have learnt so much from Charlie and I would never use anyone else to take care of Millie or myself. ”
