What a busy and exciting September has been!

It started with Borde Hill (technically the end of Aug) with Pearl. A 32.8 dressage, 1 very unlucky pole sj followed by an amazing clear XC, being 1 of 5 competitors inside the time.

This was shortly followed by a spot of BS with Pearl were she jumped a beautiful round in her first 110cm… I can tell you now, she could’ve gone under quite a few!

On the 5th September myself, Olivia Turner and Jim Hurden ran our first Biomechanics clinic. It was extremely educational for all parties. We had a fab selection of horses and riders coming into the arena- Olivia started the session by equipping the riders with a reins tension kit, it enabled us to calculate the weight the riders had in their reins, their contact on the horse’s mouth and the ‘noise’ that was being fed down the reins. As this was going on myself and Jim watched and analysed both horse and rider- my focus was what exercises I could provide the riders with to help benefit them at home. Jim then did some manipulation on both horse and rider, it was really interesting coming together as a 3 and seeing how we all picked up on patterns that the horse/rider were showing.

The next day I had a lovely early morning ready to take Skye out to our debut event at Great Witchingham in the 90. She warmed up for the dressage really well, but got slightly distracted in the rest but still produced a nice 32.5, unfortunately she continued to be distracted throughout the rest of the event. Just taking 1 down in the showjumping and a very challenging ride XC with 2 very unfortunate runouts. She’s a big horse with a lot of things to say… she was also coming into season which didn’t help!

Burnham Market was next for Pearl in the 100. My first time being to the venue and what a lovely place it is! A lovely grand SJ arena along with LOTS of hills. Pearl produced a lovely test of 31.3, just 1 pole sj which was jockey error, followed by an amazing clear XC… we came to the second to last fence with 20 seconds on the clock- we can safely say the mare has gears!

I am finishing the month at South Of England with Pearl in the 100, hope you have your fingers and toes crossed for a good result!

Along with competing and Clinics, I welcomed 3 beautiful new faces to the yard- This also means that I am full!

  • Starting with Jooles who is a 15.2, 13yro, chestnut mare who has competed to Novice. She is with me on term time livery whilst her owner is at school.

  • Next I went and picked up the lovely Buster from the same lady I purchased Beanz from. Buster is a 17hh, 5yro grey gelding… and yes he is HUGE! I have spent time with him on the ground, long lining, pole work and getting him used to seeing traffic. He as broken at the beginning of last year, then turned away to mature. I have now just started to sit on him and walk around the yard. He’s definitely one to watch for the future.

  • Lastly Mr Walls is back. If you look on my page you will see this gorgeous boy from September 2019- May 2020, His owner is away at Uni so she has left him in my care whilst she’s away, this means when she comes home she can just crack on with him and enjoy him,

Charlie came over 24/09/20 to treat Sven and Beanz. Both horses are 5yro’s and it’s proved to be so beneficial having them regularly seen. I have found that Beanz goes a bit backwards thinking when he’s having a growth spurt, treatment just helps relaxed and release those tight spots for him and the difference is massive.

I too have benefited from treatment with Charlie. To say I enjoy it would be a lie however it’s made a significant difference to my riding and posture- I’m a lot taller in my seat and my legs seem to have lengthened 2 inches… not sure if that’s possible.
